A short bio – In the first person

Born in 1964 I was raised and educated in South East London. Following the sixth form and A levels I chose to study for an HND in Business Management with Printing and Publishing at the London College of Printing (now UAL London College of Communication) in 1982. I graduated and started work as a print administrator in 1984, moving into a print sales role the following year.

I slowly came to realise I was far more interested in design and creativity than print sales and quit my last job as a salesman in Spring 1992 to start a small design agency with my wife and Co Director Jayne Holman. I have been self employed ever since.

We moved our home and business from South London to Sevenoaks in 1993 and began concentrating on design rather than print for any new clients we acquired. From 1998 onwards we supplied clients with design and print repro services only, operating from home and then from a converted barn on a farm in Kemsing, at the foot of the North Downs.

During this period I learned how to code, develop and then optimise websites. As the internet grew I gradually transitioned our business from a print to a web led design agency.

We moved to Tunbridge Wells in 2008, rented offices and incorporated the business to form Holman Design Services Ltd (now HD Create Ltd). After eight years of trading from Tunbridge Wells we decided to escape the traffic and noise and moved to Broadstairs at the end of 2016. I relocated the business address of HD Create to Canterbury in 2018.
